What is spark: Spark is activated when two or more units attack 1 single unit simultaneously within the same frame. The big shiny green Spark appears and the spark damage is enhanced.
Although it is stated that you get 50% more damage, the “real” spark damage calculation that you do is calculated after factoring enemy defenses, which the final damage number is about 30~40% improvement. You do not need a spark calculator to tell you how much damage you can do with more spark creation.

Number of Hits
The key to have an easier time pulling off spark is to have a team that deals good numbers of hits. The more hits that your team members do, the more likely that they will bump into each and create the spark effect. If your goal is to start getting serious about using Spark as your tool of improving damage, getting 1 or 2 units with high numbers of hits can definitely help.
Character Casting and Spark Timing
Different character have different casting times. There is no way of telling how a character casts his or her attacks unless you either observe them or know them by heart. Some character instant cast their attacks or spells and some take a second to start damaging the enemies. Know the character’s attack frames and casting time is essential to get more Sparks.
Character Movement Type and Distance Location
Movement matters especially for front and back row melee characters. If they require walking to the enemy, that can throw off your timing. Your goal is to take into consideration of that timing and setup your team accordingly. In addition, it should be noted that ranged characters can deal their ranged attacks without walking, this makes them attractive that you can place them anywhere without throwing your timing off. Also, some characters can “teleport” to the front of the enemy which can nullify the distance effect as well.
Your Own Tapping Speed Limitation
Your own devices and your finger’s tapping speed is a huge limitation or benefit when it comes to Brave Frontier Spark. You cannot tap all the characters at the same time and you will always have some form of lag. Thus, the key is to use that tapping lag to create a rhythm. Once you get used to the rhythm, you should be able to at least get a few Sparks out of every team attacks.
Observe the “Heavy” Hits and Spark Those
Depending on the character that you use on your team, not all hits are created equal. Spend the time to observe the attack pattern. Most of the time that you will notice attacks come in different groups in term of damage output. Your main goal is actually to get those heavy hitters Sparked instead of weaker group of hits. If you are looking to deal heavier damage, spark the heavy hitters is the key to winning, not the number of actual sparks.
Keep Your Units Alive
This can sound dumb but hard to pull off at times, you should try to keep your units alive through the entire stages. Without characters being alive, they cannot attack, and thus they cannot have spark attacks with other characters. Keep all of your units alive is the key to make the best out of Sparking.
BB Consideration
Brave Frontier’s Brave Burst or BB’s get interesting because there are different kinds of BB’s in the game. When you are trying to get BB’s to spark, avoid using your healing or support BB’s at the same time. Brave Burst already does a good amount of damage, your goal is to maximize those damage by sparking them as well.

BB’s are harder to pull off because you may have less experience timing them, and some BB’s turn your entire screen white so you cannot really tell apart the animation. The key is to experiment a bit to figure out the BB’s attacking patterns.

Get Spark Loots and Leader Skills
Some characters have leader skills that give additional loots or damage when you spark. We would like to make a few note on this effect. In general, you do not want to go for damage for Spark boost, since you are better off to get an overall elemental based damage boost. This way both your regular attacks and spark attacks all enjoy the benefit of the damage buff.
The second is the additional loots coming from sparking. Although there are a couple of characters that offer additional loots like Zel, Karma, Brave Crystal (BC), and Heart Crystal (HC). The most useful and easiest to get is Thief Leon’s Zel Boost. Thief Leon’s Zel boost from Spark is essential if your goal is to farm Brave Frontier Zel.
Generic Sparking Template Order
Below is a really generic setup of getting your sync spark attacks in Brave Frontier. The key is to start somewhere, and fine tune it based on your own speed and team setup. However, the general tapping order is as followed:
1. Slower Caster Tap First
2. Long Number of Hits Tap Second
3. Instant Casters Tap Last
You want to tap slower caster first because once they activate, it takes some time for their attacks to start. If you have picked a really slow caster, you may even have to wait for half second before setting out your second group of attackers.
The key of starting the long hits second is that you want their longer hits to trigger both the first and third group. The longer their animations take place, the more likely that they can trigger the sparks. Now your last group is the instant casters whose attacks should potentially trigger the rest of the sparks.
Set Team Position Management Tips
This last tips deals more on how to improve your sparking capability. Practice often and try to optimize your team positions. Gradually shift your character and decide a permanent place for certain characters across your different squads. This means that once you have experience sparking a specific pair of units, always place them in the same spot if you use them on another squad. This way you “keep” your timing and will have a much easier time to shift in and out of different elemental squads.
